I think the best website for finding accommodation in London is. It’s a good way to at least get an idea of prices in difference areas. Once you’ve narrowed it down to a certain area, best thing to do is to walk around the area you’ve chosen to see if there are streets, buildings etc where you would not consider and to find the local real estate agents.

If you’re willing to share a place with others, try as there are lots of cheap house shares on that website.

If you want somewhere cheap, in lots of areas you will find ex-Council flats for rent. These are flats on Council estates that are owned and rented out by individuals (ie not by the Council anymore). You will find that they are cheaper than equivalent sized flats in the area. You will however be living on an estate with all the issues that that brings.

There is no such thing as a cheap flat in Central London, this is the most expensive city in the world to live. I have probably one of the cheapest Central London Flats available, a two bedroom top floor flat and the cost was £200,000GBP
