try. you can find flats there. or. but beware as the cheap ones tend not to be in the best areas or the nicest of places.

You’re right that ‘cheap’ and ‘London’ don’t go together. My first job was in London and I rented a place about the size of a shoe-box, it cost a fortune; ended up moving to Essex and commuting each day.
To save money it may be worth looking through the small ads in papers such as the Standard. If you rent through an agency they’ll charge the landlord a managament fee, typically between 10 and 20%, which will no doubt be incorporated into the rent.
The advantage to going through an agency is that you do have some safeguards and there’s less liklihood of falling victim to an unscupulous landlord. Having said that, of the 4 times I’ve rented the worst one was the only time I’ve used an agency.
