Here’s the situation:
I’m a 35 yo single mom with a Master’s degree. I don’t get child support, have no idea where he is and going through the state takes no less than 8 months to even get the process started. I don’t qualify for unemployment because I didn’t work enough last year. I don’t qualify for welfare because I own my house BUT can’t sell right now with the current market I’d have to come up with a lot of out-of-pocket to sell – I don’t have it.
I was out of work last yr from Apr-Oct. We lived off my savings then. I landed a short-term contract in Oct which ended in Jan. I’ve been job-hunting but nothing certain yet. I’m not “in the red” YET but it’s getting to that point.
I’m currently UNEMPLOYED w/ no health insurance, no income, no real prospects and no where to turn YET I have this money in an IRA – can’t worry abt retiring when I may be homeless. Is there ANY way – special programs or anything that I can access my money and even defer paying it back once I do get a job.
The IRA is through TROWE. I rolled over all of my 401K’s into this single IRA in when I left my last FTE. I had several 401K’s with all my different past employees and didn’t want to continue tracking all of the info in different places. It’s one of those IRA’s that adjust with age (from aggressive-moderate-conservative) the closer one gets to retirement. ALL before tax money….
Help me understand capitalism vs. socialism, and why we all should be equal?

I just downloaded and watched the Michael Moore movie “Capitalism: A Love Story”. I don’t understand his thinking. I am 28 married with a three year old. our household income is around 30K a year give or take a few grand. We own our home out right, its very small but it ours. we live at what i think is al lower level of middle class lifestyle.
My problem with his thinking and president Obama thinking is why should someone who doesn’t work and who lives off of the government amd others, (who gets food stamps and TA-NF “Temporary Assistance for Needy Families”) and get section 8 housing to pay there rent. Why should people who live this way live a better lifestyle than me?? why should we share the wealth of the hard working people to help sustain a comfortable life for people who don’t work legitimately. (ex. people who sell drugs or work under the table and don’t show any income and don’t pay taxes, and live in nice homes having the government pay there rent, yet they have 52″ flat TVs and drive new cars)
Why do we continue to support women who cant keep there legs closed and keep having bastard children ( i am talking about those who have 3 or more kids with out a supporting father) don’t get me wrong, i do feel for the children, but what about these dumb women, why cant they at least go to the health department and get the pill or get there tubes tied?? I don’t have a problem with my tax money paying for that. But i do have a problem with them not working and living better than me.
my main point is what is wrong with people who are a drain on our Society Living as low class citizens?? why cant i live better than people like this since i work hard. why should we all live at an equal class with out having to contribute equally? and why don’t we make people who receive assistance work for it?? why cant people who live off of others do community service that would equal to a minimum wage job and not more to pay for there food stamps or cash assistance?
Help me understand, Now old people should be exempt, i understand that.
another thing, why should people who get a home loan but cant pay for there home be able to live there for free? they should be kicked out and made to move to the projects and make room for someone who is a hard working person to move in (like young and prosperous couples) and once you pay off your house and are dumb enough to morgue there home off to a blood sucking banks. why should we pay for that?? i understand people fall on hard times, but people those who work hard will over come! and those who don’t work hard don’t deserve to live an equal standard as those who work.
what does ones good fortune and ability to earn wealth have to do with anothers laziness? why should we just give away our earnd money.
Do you ever see them people with the sign that say “will work for food” they dont want to work they want a hand out. Next time you see one of them and offer to pay them to rake up leves in your yard and see what they say!!!
